TLCI, iAfrica Train Teachers, Proprietors in Ajegunle to Bridge Learning Gaps

Looking to bridge the literacy gap in underserved communities, Transforming Lives and Communities Initiatives (TLCI) teamed up with the iAfrica Cloud School to train educators in Ajegunle Ifelodun, Lagos.

Sponsored by DoorwayAfrica 360, a leading learning management system, the initiative focused on equipping teachers with the skills they need to improve learning outcomes.

Mrs. Modupe Adeyinka-Oni, leading the iAfrica Cloud School team, provided practical training focused on student-centered learning. The event also featured a motivational speech from Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of Nigeria Satellite Company and a proud product of Ajegunle herself. She shared her inspiring story of overcoming challenges and achieving big dreams, encouraging teachers to do the same for their students.

Teachers actively participated in the training, with some even expressing plans to utilize the provided resources to motivate students who may be discouraged about education. The session also highlighted the importance of soft skills like teamwork and communication, key qualities for future success.

The training included a live demonstration by Ms. Oyinkansola Ogungbemi showcasing the interactive teaching possibilities offered by the Doorway Africa 360 LMS. Additionally, Mrs. Tosin-Sarah Igwe, a self-made success story and top curriculum designer, shared how she overcame the lack of formal education and emphasized how the Doorway Edulab 360 app could benefit both teachers and students in improving their English language skills.

A panel discussion by teachers from Standard Bearers School further emphasized the impact of teaching, highlighting the concept of “brand teachers” who make a significant difference in their students’ lives.

The event concluded with a fun dance competition and a powerful message: the importance of lifelong learning. Both teachers and school owners expressed a desire for more frequent training and their commitment to continuous improvement. They were particularly enthusiastic about the DoorwayAfrica 360 LMS as a tool to support their own learning journeys.

The iAfrica Cloud School team found the experience rewarding, highlighting the positive impact of their outreach efforts, and pledged to return for future collaborations. The organizer, Ms. Grace-Nkwocha, closed by thanking everyone and announcing the continuation of support through a dedicated WhatsApp community.
